Region free loader Regionthree allows 3DS/3DSXL/2DS on firmware versions 4.0 to 9.5.0-23 to play another region games. Sky3ds is not region free but Sky3ds works perfectly with Regionthree. So players can play any 3ds games whatever its region is with SKY3DS.
How to Use sky3ds card for region free?
Simply set up Smea’s regionthree, and write any other different region game on SKY3DS.
Firstly write the games by SKY3DS diskwriter into sd card.
Download Launcher.dat from https://github.com/smealum/regionthree/raw/master/Launcher.dat
Copy Launcher.dat to the root of your SD card (inserted side of console)
Insert the game you want to run into your 3DS and power it up
Open the “Download Play” application
Hit the home menu button, but do not exit the Download Play application (keep it running in the background)
Open the Web Browser URL Go to http://www.go.gateway-3ds.com
Wait a few seconds; screen should turn black and after a bit your game should boot up !
Currently RegionFOUR is released by Smealum, allowing region free for New3DS/New3DSXL/3DS/3DSXL/2DS firmware versions 9.2 and 9.7.It requires that players have a copy of Cubic Ninja from your region in order to run RegionFOUR.
It is confirmed that SKY3DS works perfectly on RegionFOUR and RegionTHREE.
What about 3ds firmware 9.3~9.6 for region free?
Yep, RegionFOUR the biggest breaking out New 3ds console and latest firmware 9.7. If your console version is not 9.2 or 9.7, you can still enjoy region free by RegionTHREE. How to run RegionFOUR?
1. Go to the get regionFOUR section of this page and enter your console’s firmware version.
2. Hit submit; you should get your very own regionFOUR QR code.
4. Make sure your 3DS’s wifi connection is enabled and connected to the internet (this is important!).
5. Start CUBIC NINJA on your console, choose “Create”, then “QR code”, and finally “Scan QR code”.
6. Scan the QR Code. This step might take a couple tries; make sure you fill up as much of your 3DS’s screen with the QR code. If scanning the QR code returns to menu with an error, try a few more times.
7. Follow the on screen instructions. You may choose not to install the exploit to your gamecard’s savedata, though doing so is not recommended.
8. Once regionFOUR is ready, you will be prompted to insert your out-of-region gamecard. Simply remove the Cubic Ninja gamecard, insert your gamecard and press START.
9. OPTIONAL – once the regionFOUR is installed to your gamecard, just go back to the “QR code” menu and it’ll run automatically!
Gateway 3DS has been a hot topic since its
first demo released. Now its new features firmware spoofing and region free

From the demo, we can see that when the
first MicroSD card is inserted with Gateway 3D
flashcart, it loads the game Mario Luigi on the blue 3DS console. When the
second MicroSD card is inserted in the console, it is a
Japanese games from Sega. Then the third one, it changes the blue console into
a white one, and runs the 3D game Donkey Kong Country Returns.
It proves that Gateway 3DS cart can run
games which should be run on 3DS 5.1 firmware on 3DS 4.5. On the other hand, it
will not be blocked by regions when running backups.
